Choosing a platform without losing your book

The question is not which tool demonstrates best. It is which one you could leave without losing your clients.

The questions demonstrations skip

What is the first question to ask?

Can I leave? Specifically, can you export your client list and your records in a usable form, on your own initiative, without negotiating for them. Everything else is secondary to that answer.

Who owns the client relationship?

Ask directly, and ask whether the platform markets to your clients under its own name. A tool that builds its own relationship with your book is a competitor you are paying for.

How should I weigh features?

Against the steps where your enrollments actually stall. A feature that removes a real stall is worth more than ten that address problems you do not have.

What about support?

Test it in the busiest week, not the quietest. Support that answers in January and disappears in the season is the same as no support when it counts.

Before you migrate

What should I do first?

Export what you have today, before you need to. A current copy of your own book, held by you, turns any future platform decision into a choice rather than a hostage situation.

When is the wrong time to switch?

During enrollment. Learning a new system while clients wait costs more than any efficiency it promises. Move in the quiet months and arrive fluent.
