Registration is an annual cycle, not a one-time setup. Knowing the order of the steps keeps you selling instead of waiting.
Before you can take a single application
Why is registration repeated every plan year?
Participation is granted for a plan year, not permanently. Training content changes as rules and systems change, so completion is recorded against the year it covers. An agent who finished last year is not registered for this year until the current cycle is done.
What has to be true before I start?
An active resident state licence with the right line of authority, and a producer number that matches it. Registration validates against those records, so a lapsed licence or a mismatched name stops the process before training ever matters.
Is the training the same for everyone?
No. Agents new to the Marketplace complete a fuller curriculum than returning agents, who take a shorter path. Selling to small employers is a separate module from individual coverage, so agents who do both complete both.
When is registration actually complete?
When the training is finished, the required agreements are accepted, and your record appears on the published list of registered agents. Finishing the coursework alone does not complete registration, and that is the step agents most often assume has happened.
Making the cycle painless
When should I start?
As soon as the cycle opens for the coming plan year. Agents who wait until enrollment is near compete for help desk attention with everyone else who waited, and a licence problem found then takes weeks to fix.
What should I keep afterwards?
Your completion confirmation, the plan year it applies to, and the date. If a carrier or a client ever questions your standing, that record answers it in seconds rather than days.
